One of the most magical memories from this summer was the Fairy Birthday Party we had to celebrate the Spring birthdays of our girls. I put a lot of time and preparation into this party and I am so excited to finally get to share the photos with you!!

This is the fairy house I built and used as the center piece for the table. Below you'll see the other fairy houses we made. |
Decorating for the Fairy party was easy for me because I have been collected fairy things for many years so I had plenty of fairy figurines, dolls, books, etc that I set out around the apartment with my American Girls. My girls were sitting out all around my apartment with birthday treats as they patiently waited for our guests to arrive.
I got the idea for a fairy theme months before we actually did the party and since then I had been brainstorming ideas and creating party favors for all the girls.
Each girl (doll) got to pick a pair of unique fairy wings, a tutu, a magic wand/ribbon twirler, and a magic pixie dust bottle necklace.
I made the wings buy creating a frame with pipe cleaners then hot gluing tulle to the frame. Then I used puff paint, glitter, and ribbons to decorate them. They have safety pins on the back to attach to the dolls clothes. Making the wings was my favorite part!!
The wands/ribbon twirlers are little wooden pegs that I painted and glued a flower on and tied a long ribbon around it. The pixie dust necklaces are tiny glass bottles with glitter inside, a flower glued to the cork topper, and a ribbon tied around the bottle so they can be worn around the neck.
I made the tutus by tying strips of tulle and ribbon onto an elastic cord so they can just slide on.
It was really fun to choose the different color combinations
Our guests arrived looking beautiful in their colorful party dresses which we quickly transformed into fairy costumes once they picked out their party favors.

After the dolls were appropriately dressed up for a Fairy Party we sat down for lunch.
At each table setting I had a wooden plaque, which later was used as the base for the fairy houses, and a decorated glass jar (that the guests got to keep) full of Pixie Stixs. I put down craft paper and drew fairies and our dolls' names all over it so it worked as a festive table clothe and was an easy way to protect the table then was convenient to clean by just throwing away after the craft.
For lunch I served a variety of "mini" foods :).
We had mini pizza, mini turkey or ham wraps, fruit salad, carrot chips with ranch, and pink lemonade to drink. Dessert was mini fruit pizzas! Yummo!!
The pizza was just the right size for the dolls.
It's easy to make: mini bagels with pizza sauce, mozzarella, and mini pepperonis then just warm them in the oven... aren't they cute!?
Caroline loved the mini fruit pizzas. These are also easy to make. I used Pepperidge Farms soft sugar cookies, canned cream cheese icing, and topped it with berries and pineapple.... so good!!

After lunch it was time for the craft!!
We each got to make a fairy house using recycled and natural items.
I had been collecting cardboard milk and creamer jugs to use as the base of the houses plus all kinds of pieces of bark, leaves, pods, shells, sticks, petals, etc. I did purchase some other embellishment such as rosettes, artificial flowers, raffia, moss, and of course glitter!!
This is the house my mom made. She was very creative with the roof by using big leaves on the arches of the milk cartons! The chimney looks awesome because she covered it with pieces of bark then filled in the gaps with moss!
This is Peyton's.
She added lots of fun embellishments including glass beads around the arch of the door way.
This one is Brynna's.
She carefully thought through the placement of all her additions and used lots of birchwood bark to give it a nice texture.

Once we cleaned up a little it was time to play!
Anna and DeeDee played with their fairy house and their dolls.
Molly and Emily played with my little fairy figurines.
Kaya and Rebecca played make-believe that they were fairies hiding in the woods.
Samantha, Kirsten, and Addy made a fairy ring and danced around in a circle.

Happy belated Birthday to all my Spring and Summer Girls!!
We had such a magical time and I really enjoyed creating all the fairy party favors and preparing for the crafts and food.
Have you ever hosted a themed party for your American Girl Dolls?
I'd love to hear or see some of your creative party ideas too!!
