we heart animals

we love animals and felicity has a real heart for endangered animals. ever since she rescued her horse, penny, from that terrible jiggy nye she has been interested in helping animals. my felicity is a time traveler and she has seen how over time animals have become more and more endangered making her eager to learn more. we love looking at the world wildlife foundation's (wwf) website and catalog for research and also because the pictures are so cute :)

here is felicity with two wwf animals. the panda was from toys r' us but is a wwf animal and part of the proceeds go towards supporting wildlife. and the orangutan i got by donating to wwf (they call it a symbolic adoption). i love doing that for gifts for people because it is a gift that keeps on giving and you get a cute little stuffy with it :)

over the weekend we decided to use the catalog to make a little book of some of the animals we are particularly interested in.
just like the catalog we organized it by region and made a page that described each region. then the following pages featured animals living in that region, like chapters. we cut out pictures and brief information about the animals then decorated it with doodles and thoughts.

we hole punched all the pages and connected them with rings so we can keep adding more pages.

felicity and i love zebra print, it's so cool! both of our beds have zebra print bedding. on this page we drew little zebra print around the cut outs to make it fancy. awesome!

then of course, if you haven't noticed, one of our favorites is the giant panda. their faces are the cutest things and we love how chubby and cuddly they are :) not to mention you can't help but love them when you find out they are one of the most endangered animals, it's so sad!

it was really fun to make this little book and we learned a bunch while making it too! scrap booking is so fun!! have you ever made a mini book with your ag doll? i'd love to hear/see how you made yours and what the theme was.

thank you a billion trillion jelly beans!!!!

i have to send a shout out to my felicity fan friend, she sent me this post card of an illustration from changes for felicity. i was so excited to get it and so was felicity, she insisted we hang it in her room!

here is where we put it. right next to her memo board and bed (a very special spot!)

this is a super special picture because it has her best friend elizabeth, her grandfather, her horse penny, and even felicity's special doll in it. plus this was a very happy moment for her because grandfather was telling her that penny was going to have a foal!

wow what a great little gift!!
thank you silly... i heart unicorn - inicorn wink wink :)

sunday funday!

yay! we love sundays! and you know what the best part about this sunday is? tomorrow is mlk day-- no school!!!!!
otherwise we are having a typical sunday. it's our favorite because we go to church, relax, play, have a nice family dinner, and get pumped up for the coming week.

after church kirsten and addy wanted to play outdoors. kisten was all bundled up and anxious to play while addy reaches to put on her coat but is reluctant to cover her beautiful lavender dress. addy just got her sunday best outfit for christmas from my mom. we tried to tell her to put play clothes on to go outside but she just felt so pretty she refused to change. i hope it doesn't get dirty addy.
kirsten called for felicity in the modern room to let her know they were going outdoors.
felicity waved back and said she's just about finished picking up her room and then she would meet them outside. she realized making a loft bed is a little tricky and time consuming, especially when you keep all those stuffies on the bed!

meanwhile, rebecca and samantha stay inside where it is warm and cozy to play dolls.

doesn't their house look empty with no decorations! between halloween, my birthday, and christmas (especially christmas!) we have been so saturated with decorations that we aren't use to this minimalistic, if you will, home. however, it's kind of refreshing to have less clutter even if that was pretty clutter :)
what do you like to do on sundays?

felicity fans

one of my super favoritest friends (we jokingly say we share a brain) has an original pleasant company felicity so she brought her over and her sister's molly for a play date. we couldn't believe how different our felcitys looked! obvy they have different meet dresses and mine has pierced ears...duh. but also their hair is totes different, hers has redder hair and her hairline is lower, which my boyfriend pointed out randomly enough hahaha...he's such a good sport about my ag obsession :) loves it! they also have slight differences in the face mold. look at the area around their eyes hers has smaller eye sockets and hers has a little bit wider face. also mine has a longer neck. then of course there is some aging differences since hers is like over 15 years old and mine is 1 year old haha... so she accidentally brushed out felicity's curly tendrils oops, and her hair got a wee bit tangley...eek, and her eye brows and lips are faded...sad. if you asked the velveteen rabbit he'd say hers is more "real" :)
regardless they are equally beautiful and very special!

here is a close up look. aren't they the sweetest things!! i'm such a felicity fan!

and here are all the girls, mine were embarrassed to still be in holiday clothes but i'm taking care of that tonight! photos coming soon.
btw, i have a new appreciation for molly now. she is so cute in person. i mean i've seen her in the store and all but to actually hold her and play with her makes me some how like her better. huh, weird. mostly i just really like her coloring: the soft dull eyes and american brown hair, it's cute.
omigosh i can't stand how stinkin' cute they are!!
i l.o.v.e. american girl dolls!!!!!!!!!!!

lovely and lofty new room...

i am so so sooooo excited because i finally created a new modern-ish room!

iv'e always done the old fashioned theme because i love old fashioned stuff especially victorian, hence my girls' home is all more of that era. however, i love all the stuff ag makes that is modern too so i've been toying (no pun intended hehehe) with making a separate room for felicity who is my time traveler. when i saw mckenna's loft bed i really wanted it for my "dream modern room" until i found out how much it cost...ouch! major bummer! then dolldiaries.com had a post about a loft bed sold at toys r' us and literally that night i went and bought it...it was under $60!!! hello! i even kind of like it better than kckenna's (shh don't tell!).
there are a few things i was disappointed about:
#1 the underneath part isn't as tall as kckenna's and its actually even too short for the dolls to comfortably sit on the included bean bag chair...buuut...i think i may have assembled the bed upside down haha...oops :) but even still it's short.
#2 the bedding-- it's cute but too small, it doesn't even fit the bed, weird. but i actually had an extra set of zebra print pillow cases that match my bedding and i used those to make a mattress and top sheet, which i love, so it worked out.
#3 the desk chair is too small for the dolls-- they can hardly get their lil' tushies on it so if they sit they have to be on the very edge and it looks awkward, oh well.
things i love about the bed: it's white (white is cute); a variety of stickers are included to decorate with; the desk is at the end of the bed so its easy to play at; it came with a t.v. stand and the desk has shelves giving us plenty more options of places we can display all our fun stuff; and it came with a laptop and t.v. which i wana find cute pictures to tape on them so it looks like they are on.
any who what do you think? pretty cute right! we love it! it's fun to have both old and new looking rooms for the girls.
do you prefer old fashioned or modern for your doll's environment?

play date

here is a follow up to the post about my nieces' doll trunk my daddy made them for christmas (seen here).
felicity and i had a play date with my nieces, kit, and julie. i went over play and to help them organize and set up their new ag stuff and doll trunk. they loooved the trunk and my parents also got them the trundle bed from ag for christmas which they were really excited about.
so we set up a little room for kit and julie
there's the trunk and the new bed (love it!). we used hello kitty lunch boxes for side tables and storage of little things. we decided to put their ag books in the lil room so that all their ag stuff was together.

then we got all their clothes and accessories sorted and hung up. it all fit perfectly but looks like we're gona need more hangers if they get any more clothes!!

once we had everything so beautifully organized we felt we needed to have a fashion show!
felicity was so excited to borrow kit's pretty new holiday outfit!!

then kit and felicity borrowed julie's clothes for a 70s theme hehehe :) groovy!
i don't really like the 70s too much but i love the outfit felicity has on and i might need to put that on my wish list now. doesn't she look cute?! kinda funny to think of felicity, a colonial girl, in a groovy 70s outfit hehehe but she is a time traveler so it works.

after all the setting up and playing dress up kit and julie got sleepy so felicity read to them until they fell asleep.
it was a really fun night!! i'm so glad i get to share my passion for ag dolls with my sweet nieces.
do you have a friend or family member that you have ag play dates with?

my favorite christmas gift of 2011

in december i posted pictures of the trunk my daddy made (and my mom and i helped with) that was a christmas present for my nieces (you can see that post here). well guess what! he made one for me too!

mom and daddy knew my old doll trunk, which he made for me when i was little, was overflowing so daddy secretly made one similar to my nieces' at the same time he was working on theirs.

he left it with the inside unfinished so that i could decide how i wanted it. well if your read that post about my neices' trunk you know papering the inside was a big job so i nixed that idea and used house paint and fabric. i painted all the inside walls a pale lavender then used coordinating upholstery fabric to line the top and bottom shelves.

i added a little personal detail by decoupaging stickers of my ag dolls on the top shelves.

i am so happy with how it turned out and i love that my dolls clothes fit so nicely in it! i am still using my old trunk for clothes too (yeap i have that much!).

this was my favorite christmas gift, it's something made with love that i will cherish always!
what was your favorite gift?
